"Maybe…you’ll fall in love with me all over again.”
“Hell,” I said, “I love you enough now. What do you want to do? Ruin me?”
“Yes. I want to ruin you.”
“Good,” I said. “That’s what I want too."

“Heartbeats (Live)” by The Knife // Silent Shout: An Audio Visual Experience (2007)

It’s Christmas, and I feel like posting songs that I’m grateful for having existed. The live version of The Knife’s most famous song, “Heartbeats”, is such a towering achievement in musical composition, that I can’t help but be happy every time that I hear it. It’s a dark, melancholic, heartfelt masterpiece. When people say that Ellie Goulding or Jose Gonzalez did the song better, I always point them here - because this is where it begins and ends. It’s a perfect realization of the power of music and one of the best songs ever conceived.
